Known as one of the original famous names of Leicester's knitwear manufacturing, alongside others in the 1960s and 70s. TW Kempton represented what the height of the British textile manufacturing looked like. Originally a manufacturer for British Fashion and military TW Kempton once held contracts for shops such as M&S in the 1980s.
British Wool Yarn
British Wool, we love using it so much that we are a Licensed gold supplier from British Wool. Buying a licensed British Wool Sweater, Cardigan, Scarf or Hat supports the 35,000 sheep farmers in the UK who are apart of British Wool. It ensures that there is a fair stable market for British Wool and that the fibers that make up our garments are ethically sourced and supplied.
We offer a wide range of colour's including natural yarns such as Light grey Welsh, Dark Grey Welsh and Black Welsh. Our 100% British Wool knitwear makes the most of the natural properties of the yarn and colour, which makes every piece of knitwear unique. The natural oils in the wool (Lanolin) helps shrug of dirt and sheds water droplets. Compared to synthetic fibers wool is biodegradable and ecologically friendly.
For a piece of mind, you can find our suppliers profile on the British Wool website here.
We partnered with Harris Tweed to create a collection of sweaters utilizing Harris Tweed for the patches. Each Harris Tweed Pattern has been handpicked by our design team at Outdoor Knitwear to help compliment the colours of the British Wool Yarns. This has resulted in a beautiful range of knitwear for every occasion. The collection covers all types of our knitwear from sweaters and cardigans to rib knit roll neck sweaters.
Using British Wool and Harris Tweed makes each piece of kntiwear individual and unique. This is due to the yarn dyes or natural colours of British Wool Yarns combined with the hand woven fabric of Harris Tweed. This combination means that two pieces of knitwear are never the same.

Can’t sing enough praise!!! 5/5 Muhammad
As a lover of the earth I LOVE that it’s undyed because the black welsh color has depth (it’s like a dark brown but has some color variation in the fibres and so it feels like a natural dark brown and not some dyed synthetic brown where the color is so uniform that it looks artificial). Plus I love the all natural fibre and it feels going being unprocessed in todays hyper processed synthetic world I also adore the lanolin in the sweater because it ACTUALLY SMELLS LIKE SHEEP :). Luckily the smell isn’t strong, you only smell it if you stick your nose in your sweater (I can’t stop smelling it because it reminds me of my childhood on a farm and has that old world rustic charm) The thickness of the sweater is just right. Not too thin that it won’t be proper warm, but also not so thick that it’s heavy. NOT SCRATCHY at all. I bought a noname aran knit sweater from England 30 years ago and that thing is prickly as heck. I love that the Outdoor knitwear sweaters aren’t itchy. They’re soft but also feel durable, I’m glad I discovered this brand because it took a lot of digging. Today it’s getting harder and harder to find companies that produce durable well made products, and since you guys are still doing that I’m proud to support y’all
Welbeck Woolly Pully Sweater (No Patches)
I love that it’s a proper sweater. Unlike fashion brands you buy on the high street that are paper thin, this is a proper hefty sweater. The vertical ribbing is awesome because it makes you look slimmer than you are. Do note that it really is a form fitting garment. It isn’t overly tight but it’s definitely not baggy (I don’t have extremely muscular arms, but I do workout and my arms are snug) I love it and am slowly trying to convince all my friends and family to pick up a 100% wool sweater too. Keeps you warm when it’s cold, but you don’t start sweating either if you’re in a warm room, feels like magic almost but then again you’ll never see a shivering or sweating sheep. Wool is far better than synthetics since it can handle a much greater time per store range and still remain comfortable I love that Outdoor knitwear doesn’t blend any synthetics into their wool and uses proper thick yarns: I’m confident this garment will last, built well like things used to be in the good old days. They keep the fabrics pure, natural, and plastic free, good for health and the environment!!
Greenwich Quarter Zip Sweater
Well made comfortable generous fit using top quality wool, fashionable Das Boot look. Ideal for winter walks as a top or middle layer of clothing. Zip up collar and turn down cuffs with thumb slots are ideal when it turns extra cold. Comes with it's own cotton protective storage bag.
The Olympic Class
This was my first purchase from OutdoorKnitwear and I'm very pleased with my purchase. The jumper is well made, medium heavy and feels like it will last some time. I'm a 36" chest and ordered the XS size, it's a good fit, not tight and not baggy.
Prompt Service & Top Quality
Received my Submariner Sweater today and I couldn’t be happier. Delivery to Newfoundland was fast and I am more than happy with the product. Unlike other sweaters that I own, this one is less bulky and fits under an outer layer perfectly with great insulation. Sweaters are a way of life here with our harsh climate in the North Atlantic, and this product will easily stand up to the challenge. I am so pleased that I am purchasing the Scapa Classic Seaman’s High Shawl Collar Sweater as well. Great Company with great products. I will be sure to recommend to all my friends here on this side of the pond?
Crofter - Chunky quarter zip neck sweater
|An excellent jumper, but what else would you expect from Outdoor Knitwear.|
Great service and quality
I'm a sailor living in the United States, and I love these sweaters. The quality of the wool is fantastic -- these sweaters are harder-wearing than any synthetic fleece and much warmer to boot. I'm usually toasty-warm while my crewmates are shivering, and I get asked often where I bought mine. A note on the sizing: I'm 6'5'' and weigh 230 pounds, and the size L is perfect for me. The sleeve length is spot-on when unfolded. The sweater is quite long in the body, but that's normal: it's to keep your backside warm while bending over and working on deck. The sleeves and body can be folded back if a shorter length is desired. Finally, the customer service is excellent. It's fantastic to see that such quality still exists. Keep up the good work!
9043 - York Woolly Pully Vee Neck Sweater
A great sweater, very warm, decent price, nice color range, large enough elbow patches, good delivery (your own country's post office). I recommend buying one size bigger than normally because it's army fitting i.e. tight fitting. You won't find this on Amazon.
It’s an iconic piece and for the money you are getting a very stylish, timeless sweater with genuine pedigree. It’s made in England from British wool to MOD specifications. The slightly wider neck works really well as does the draw cord. The herringbone tape around the sleeves looks very hard wearing and looks great too . Fit is comfortably snug as per usual with all woolly pullies. I really like the shoulder patches -a little time on a hanger and being worn helps them fit better too. I found it comfortable the first time I wore it and a few washes softens the wool too. I’d say mine is navy blue rather than dusty blue. In terms of authenticity, ask yourself this question: would Commander JB of the Royal Navy wear this sweater ? Of course he would! In reality he wouldn’t wear a watch with an OO7 logo! Size wise, I’m a 38” chest and the Medium if fine to wear over a long sleeve T shirt or a slim fitting lightweight hoody. It’s so good though that I’m going to order another in small as for a slimmer look with just a short sleeve t shirt .
really nice pullover
Bought one of these in January 2020 so had time to wear and evaluate. verdict - excellent! Well made and classic design, stands out from the run of the mill ex-MOD versions. Softer wool that MOD woolly pullys, much easier to wear, and very warm. I never really tie the neck cord up but it doesn't get in the way. For the purists, not a precise copy of the Bond pullover in the movie - but having compared the two side by side (my bother has one of the genuine ones) I think this one is much easier to wear... Recommended. Just about to order the 1945.
First the Good: For my particular instance, the size chart was extremely accurate. The fit is snug, as expected with plenty of room in the shoulders, sleeve's and body length. I had this exact sweater some 20 years back and it's the same quality.....no exceptions! Delivery was excellent, only taking from order date to my door about 2 weeks. Now the Great: If you've never owned one you should. This is an excellent and essential piece of outdoor wear. Here in the states, Michigan has some extremely cold weather months with temps dipping below 10 degrees during the day. This sweater with a long sleeve shirt under and a down vest over.....I'm good to go about the business at hand. A plus is that you have the option for it to be worn as a casual or dress garment....Jeans or dress pants, it's appropriate. Thank you TW Kempton.....I'll be buying again SOON!!!
