Outstanding reproduction!
Having acquired a few other manufacturer’s attempts at a reproduction of the British “commando” sweater, or “jumper” as my Anglo brothers know it, Outdoor Knitwear has nailed it with their 1945. The quality of this piece is immediately apparent upon unpackaging. The 1945 waist length and sleeve length, the “short”coming of others, is perfect. The drawcord is fully functional and not simply an ornamental feature, again, as found with others. Finally, the color of The 1945 is indeed exactly that of the originals, again, unlike other modern attempts at reproduction. I wear this to work with business casual, collared shirt and tie, and am consistently complimented on it. Out in the field, it provides freedom of movement while retaining perfect fit, again in waist and sleeves. I intend to purchase another in black. FYI, I purchased a size medium and am 5’9″ tall, 40″ chest, 32” waist, 150lbs. and the fit is spot on, not to tight, not to loose, the perfect “commando.” Lastly, I realized that the Outdoor Knitwear “Bond” is the same sweater as the 1945 albeit in the navy blue color as worn by 007 – if it is good enough for Bond, it is certainly exceptional enough for me!
